New ProForce® Padre 270 Plant Growth Regulator Simplifies Vegetation Management for Hard-to-Maintain Areas
Indigo Specialty Products has announced the launch of ProForce® Padre 270 Plant Growth Regulator, a new solution designed to reduce mowing frequency and improve the appearance and stability of grassed areas in low-maintenance environments such as roadsides, rights-of-way and industrial sites.

Formulated in Australia, ProForce Padre 270 contains 270 g/L Maleic Hydrazide (MH) and provides reliable growth suppression of Bahia Grass and Kikuyu for up to 12 to 16 weeks. The result is a tidier sward, reduced seedhead formation and improved erosion control, making it a cost-effective alternative to frequent mowing or repeated herbicide applications.
Peter Kirby, General Manager of Indigo Specialty Products, said the development of ProForce Padre 270 was driven by feedback from vegetation managers seeking a more efficient and environmentally responsible way to manage vigorous grass growth. “ProForce Padre 270 allows councils, contractors and land managers to maintain safer, tidier verges and embankments while significantly reducing labour and equipment costs,” he said.
When applied as a foliar spray, Maleic Hydrazide is absorbed through the leaves and translocated throughout the plant, moving to actively dividing cells in shoots and stems. It interferes with cell division, suppressing vertical growth and seed stalk formation. This redirection of plant energy from top growth to stability enhances ground cover and reduces mowing requirements, particularly in remote or difficult-to-access areas.
Research has shown a 70 to 90 percent reduction in seedhead formation of Bahia Grass and other roadside species within four to eight weeks of application, extending mowing intervals and improving site presentation and safety. Growth suppression generally lasts between eight and sixteen weeks, depending on application rate and growing conditions.
ProForce Padre 270 Plant Growth Regulator is available now through Indigo Specialty Products’ distribution network.
